2. It’s miserably HOT. I’ll never understand why Texans complain about the 2 months of cold weather we get. How are y’all feeling now? :) Tuesday before I left Houston for Dallas, the temperature was supposed to hit 106 with the heat index. It cracks me up when people say Dallas is cooler than Houston. Today in Dallas the temp was supposed to hit 105 with the heat index. Whatever. The Houston news announced 8 “Cooling Centers” around the city. I think it’s a great idea for those who need to escape the heat and can’t afford to keep their homes cool. The extremely depressing part is the “Cooling Centers” will be open from June 22- Oct 2. Yes you heard it right, OCTOBER!
3. I thought of something funny today. In April I was visiting my parent’s church in San Antonio (San Antonio airport code=SAT). I told a few people I was 95% sure I was moving to SAT in June. One girl said, “Oh you’ll love it here. You don’t have to dress up.” Hmm…. Guess I’m not going to fit in. Here’s a little random fact, I have never owned a pair of sweatpants.
I too have never owned a pair of sweatpants! I hate the way they look and the thought of them makes me cringe!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could live in Texas...I am so not a hot weather girl!
ReplyDeletePS. I've never owned sweatpants either!
Danielle's wallpapers are so cute! I need one for summer.
ReplyDeleteThe heat sounds unbearable. I don't think I would handle that so well. That's good that they have cooling stations. I always worry about the elderly that are less fortunate when it get hot like that.
I know how you love your dresses! I always say that it is better to be over-dressed than under, so you will always look nice :)
I love hot weather! I'm from the South and we lived in Thailand before here... the Seattle gray drippiness is so hard on me... I dream of Texas frequently! :)
ReplyDeleteY'all know what they say about the South. We have two seasons, hot and hotter. I'm looking forward to it being just plain hot again. And it does get cold. Those three weeks are brutal. I have to pull out my entire winter wardrobe of 3 sweaters. However, Austin does get ice storms once in a blue moon. I remember my first; I saw a dead frozen squirrel. That should tell ya how well prepared southern Texans are for cold temps. Even the squirrels are caught off guard, LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhen we first moved to Austin they said the same thing. It wasn't until I had a business meeting with a client wearing ripped jeans, an unbuttoned white cotton shirt, and a shark tooth necklace that I truly appreciated that phrase. That cheesy 90's song by Gerardo, "Rico Suave" kept playing over and over in my head during the entire meeting. Houston is a lot more professional.
P.S. I only wear my sweat pants to fancy restaurants like the Golden Corral. I’m sooo kidding! I don’t have a pair of sweat pants and I’ve never eaten at the Golden Corral. But if I did, I would, and I would be rock’n the Corral, baby. I would get a pair that read “Fancy” across my butt. That way everyone would say, “Look, she’s wearing dem fancy pants.”
LOL. I do have some yoga pants but no sweat pants. Love your post. I never even owned jeans until a few years ago. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love that you don't own sweat pants. You are YOU and don't apologize for it. You're such an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love the DG's desk tops! Very cute (Love the star fish one)
Ok, I seriously want one of all those dresses. :) I think it's so cute that you've never owned a pair of sweatpants. I don't own any 'sweatpants'...I do have some loungy-wide-leg jersey knit pants that I LOVE! I'm an Oklahoma girl so I know all about the scorching heat! It's 103 today...ugh! When I got in my car the temp on my dashboard said 109! I think I just started sweating while typing that.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great day!
Oh, and those backgrounds are CA-UTE!
Yes ma'am, this heat is out of control. But what is new? It's summer in Texas!
ReplyDeletei commend you for never owning a pair of sweatpants, but I am a preppy girl & I must say I LOVEEEEE my sweatpants in the winter!!! HAHAH. :)Maybe it's from my years as a year-round swimmer.
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute!! The weather is miserable here too.
ReplyDelete1. I will never complain about a Texas winter again. Ever. Also I am not even complaining about summer. I am just trying not to die. :)
ReplyDelete2. The thing I love about Texas is that you can wear whatever. Dressy or casual. Trendy or classic. Everyone just does there own thing. Well, except for the girl I saw at the mall in the cheetah jumpsuit. She is NOT allowed to do her own thing.
Why would you buy sweat pants for the six days/year you'd need them...with your schedule, chances are you're out of town anyway!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, no warm ups? Not even a velour jogging set?
Thanks for posting about my free wallpapers!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you have NEVER owned a pair of sweatpants. I know you're a dress girl. I actually think that's pretty impressive ;)
