Advice?

Y’all, I feel like the worst blogger and commenter EVER. I used the word “ever” in a sentence a couple of weeks ago while talking to my brother. My brother said I sounded like Steph*nie Pr*tt from The Hills (his girlfriend watches it). Oopps, not good! I’ve been so stressed with moving, work, and traveling. It's not a good combination. I’ll be back to your blogs soon.

Since I’m moving in 2 weeks, I want to purchase new bedding (although, I'm not sure when I'll have time). I also want new towels, pots, and pans but that won’t be happening. I have a black iron canopy bed. It currently has a reddish Ralph Lauren printed comforter. I’m thinking about replacing Ralph with all white linens. It just feels so clean and fresh. I found this photo from Ballard Designs. My bed isn’t quite this fancy but it’s close. What do y’all think?

I have an armoire that I desperately NEED to paint. At first I thought about painting the armoire a shabby chic white but I talked with BFF, Tiffany, and she suggested a pale green or pale blue. Why didn’t I think of that? I love that idea. What color do y’all think would be cute on my armoire... pale green, pale blue, or white??? Should I give it a shabby chic finish, matte, or lacquered?

The armoire that must be painted

Possible new color ideas....

LOVE this... Light Blue

LOVE this too... Seafoam Greenish

I always like the white shabby chic finish. I could paint my dresser this way??? I definitely want the dresser and armoire to be different.

P.S. I just finished watching the Sex and the City episode where Miranda had to stand by the guest book at a wedding. As if that wasn’t bad enough, she had to put the wedding gifts in the van. Ha Ha, this episode is so funny. I’m not lying, I’ve stood at the guest book, cut wedding cake, and poured punch more times than I can count. Yay, for being a "C" list friend. :)

  1. I love the all white linen look. Before I moved back home I had all white on my bed and it just looked so clean. I had a white down comforter (the duvet was white, had ruffles, and from target :) and white pillows and then I added a little color with a color duvet at the end of the bed. I loved it.

  2. I love the Ballard Designs bedding...I was just thumbing through their catalog last week! :) GREAT stuff!!
And I'm all about the light blue in a shabby or matte finish... but whatever you choose, I don't think you can go wrong! Can't wait to see photos of the finished product. Good luck with your move!!

  6. I LOVE the white bedding!!! I think my favorite paint color was the seafoam green ... but that's a close call because the white and blue were so nice too.

I'm all for throwing you a "single and fabulous" shower. Then you can register for all the towels, pots, and pans that you want. If I could get presents just for deciding to get married, you should be able to get them for moving and redecorating. I think it makes sense - otherwise you have to buy it all yourself - and how is that fair?!

Is the Miranda and the guest book episode the same one where the boquet was tossed and they all let it fall to the floor and walked off? That was one of my favorite ones. Followed closely by the one where Carrie registered for shoes that were stolen at her friend's baby shower. I miss that show so much!

Anyway, I can't wait to see what you come up with decorating your new house!

  13. Love the white bedding! Buy it! As for the colors for the armoire, I say go with the light blue in matte. I love any of those colors though.

  14. I love the idea of the white linens with a little color accent like in the picture. (I've had good luck buying nice linens at smartbargains.com)

Have you seen Magic Paint Brush's blog? She has been so helpful to my friend Girly Stuff emailing her advice on how to paint and faux things. I have also seen beautiful painted pieces in some of the colors you mentioned on House of Turquoise.

I think it will be so pretty and fresh. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

  18. I was just at a boutique a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with a beautiful armoire in turquoise. It was gorgeous and everyone that entered the store asked how much. I asked the owner how she painted it and she told me that after painting it turquoise she rubbed a light rusty colored stain. It was beyond beautiful. The color wouldn't go with my home but it would definately work in your bedroom. Just a thought~

  19. Go for the all white bedding. You know I love that look (since I have it!).

As far as the dresser, love the idea of a gray color. I think that would look amazing. If not gray, blue or an off white would be gorgeous, too.

Can't wait to come visit you in TX this year. It's gonna be fun!!!

  20. No worries about being a bad blogger/commenter - I have too! Sometimes you just need a break!

I'm really thinking white for your armoire. That way it will walways go with your decor. However, I really adore the blue color as well. And DEF shabby! Do you know how much shabby stuff costs these days?! Great Gatsby!

  21. You are not the worst commenter/blogger by far! Life stuff happens and it's completely understandable.

I really like the look of the white bedding, especially if your bed is similar to the one in the pic.

I think the armoire would look so nice painted in a matte blue. You will have to let us know what you decide and post pics!

  22. I'll bet it would look great in a seafoam or tiffany/robin's egg blue. I also like the shabby chic finish, who says you can't do this with a pale color instead of white?

  23. I love the white linens!! I could never do them with my pup :( Paint colors are tough for me! I LOVE the shabby chic look!

  24. I know it will be beautiful any color you choose! I'm going through the same dilemas with decor for my new place! Make sure you change to knobs and hardware on your armoire to something fun and shabby chic like glass knobs or something. I've just discovered while looking at blogs and magazines how a little hardware can make a huge difference! But, I bet you already thought of that!

  25. seafoam green looks fabulous!!

  26. go white shabby chic or the robins egg blue- def not the seafoam, that color easily gets old and you want to love that dresser forever!

  27. I have to say I love the white linens and black iron bed look because I have it and absolutely love it!

I painted my walls Light French Grey from Behr which is a gorgeous light grey blue. If you kept your walls white you could paint the armoire that color.

Or seeing as your friend Tiffany was helping you how about Tiffany blue!
