Omaha~ Part 2

On Saturday my sis took me to Kimmel Orchard and Vineyard in Nebraska City. We finally got to pick our own apples and we had to take a hay ride to get to the apple orchard. It was fun! I don’t think Jenn and I have taken a hay ride together since we were kids.

After we picked apples, we did a wine tasting and shared a Cider Doughnut. I've read about bloggers picking apples and having Cider Doughnuts. I had never had a Cider Doughnut until Saturday; it was delicious!

Our Pickings

We decided to make an Apple Tart with some of our apples. We (kinda) made up the recipe. It turned out great.

Our Masterpiece

Daisy and me (without lipstick)~ the only dog I love! I have dreams about her. :)

  1. Speaking of dreams...I dreamt you were moving and getting rid of a TON of stuff. You had professionals packing everything to sell (I'm talking 10 sets of dishes, lamps...good stuff) and I was crying...then I thought of something I wanted...can you guess what it is?

That awesome painting of the roses! Did you hang it in your new place?

  2. I've always wanted to go apple picking, but can't say that I ever have. I have had apple doughnuts before, we used to drive to this huge apple stand when we went camping as a kid. And I still remember their doughnuts!

  3. Fun!! Such cute, cute pics,ad that tart looks amazing.

I'm guessing there will be no apple picking in Texas. But there will be surprise crafts, the admiration of the beauty of Hobby Lobby (PLEASE send me the itinerary) and lots of Christmas cheer!

  4. Hi Friends~ I never post comments in the comments section, probably b/c I never go back to check if the blogger answered my question in the comments section. This isn't a first but unusual.

Amy C~ on my way to Omaha I daydreamed about getting rid of all my decorations and starting over. I think about this often. Oh that would be FUN! Sunday night when I got home, I rearranged the living room. It was rewarding. :)

I know the painting you are referring to. It was hanging over my parents sofa in their first house in Houston in the early 70's. You know... the good ole' days, when buying a 2 liter of coke was a treat. :) I haven't hung the painting here but it's in the closet, waiting for a good place to display.
