I have a few more questions to answer from my “Ask Me Anything” post but I thought I’d take a break to mention a few very important items.

Remember the Circus themed baby shower I hosted for my friend Amy? At the shower I gave each guest 2 note cards. They wrote one note to Amy and one note to her husband Joe. The notes could be anything from congratulations to advice or tips and tricks to help them with their first. Everyone gave me their note cards and I’ve been saving the cards for a surprise. The surprise finally arrived…



It's a Photo Book... I scanned each note card and used the photos from the shower to create a Photo Book for Amy and Joe. Can anyone guess which company I used to create the photo book? The first person to guess correctly will win a little surprise. If you play along and win, I’ll need your mailing address. I really love the idea of having a photo book that displays handwritten notes from each shower guest along with photos. So my friends and sister, don’t forget this idea and do it for me someday. ;)

My friend Jules at Chic & Pink informed us of something that’s just too cute. Two of my favorite things are joining forces… Hello Kitty and Wine! That’s right, Hello Kitty Wine. It’s just so cute, I might pass out. I haven’t seen the Hello Kitty Wine in the stores yet. If you find it, let me know.

Y’all know how I like to complain about hotels only having television channels for men? Well, I’ve got the ultimate example for you this week. I’m in San Diego (LOVE this city) and here’s my man channel line-up this week. Keep in mind I only have 38 channels; it’s not like home with 400+ channels.

I would never get to watch my shows if it weren’t for the beautiful invention of the DVR! Maybe I should send the DVR inventor a surprise in the mail, possibly a bottle of Hello Kitty wine?

What is your favorite magazine? It’s a tie between Southern Living and Elle Décor


What is your favorite hobby? Anything crafty

If you described yourself as a famous person who would that celebrity be? Good question and so hard to answer because I don’t like many celebs. They’re so out of control these days, especially when they open their mouths about politics. I can’t 100% identify with just one celeb but I can possibly relate to 1-2 characteristic of a couple celebs.

Reese Witherspoon seems girly and nice. I think we could be friends IRL (in real life). Reese seems like the kind of girl that you could meet for lunch or happy hour and chat about girl stuff. I won’t be popular for this one but I admire Angelina Jolie. No “Team Aniston” over here. I would LOVE to talk with Angelina about her work in international orphanages and adoption. I think once you’ve experience a third world country orphanage, it changes you. I understand that about Angelina.

What will be the #1 thing you’ll miss most about Houston (as in lifestyle thing)? Big venue events such as the Rodeo and concerts. Britney Spears didn’t quite make it to San Antonio on her tour this year. :) That’s okay, I’ll only be 3 hours away and I’ll be back often.

What made you start blogging? In 2007, I found a Chinese adoption blog. It was the first interesting blog I had ever read. From that blog, I found more blogs and I was hooked. I had a terrible year in 2007 and reading blogs became an outlet for me. Everyone is so nice and positive. At the end of 2007, I decided to start a blog. I wasn't sure if I’d have anything to write about or if anyone would read my blog. After posting my first several entries, I called my mom and begged her to read them and leave comments. I really love the blogging community. I’ve made some great friends and I’ve had the chance to meet a few bloggers who are now IRL friends.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Or 10? Or 20? Oh goodness, I have no idea. I really thought at age 34 I would be married and have 2-3 kid. I thought I would be a stay at home mom and the president of the PTA. You know how some people are on plan B, C, or D in their lives? I’m on plan M. Ha Ha but I'm not joking.

I am thankful for the path God has taken me on over the years. I was not born an adventurous or independent person. When my parents dropped me off at college I cried. I think I was homesick for about a year and a half. Over the years, I’ve changed so much and my hopes and dreams have changed too. I have no idea what will happen in the future but I’m excited to see where God leads me.

If you could only watch one TV show (other than Gossip Girl) what would it be? The Real Housewives Series... Orange County, NYC, and New Jersey. I can pick a series, right?

I know you love crafts. Do you have a favorite? Hmm, I’ve never thought about it. I don’t think I have a favorite.

What is the cutest thing you’ve ever made? Some might disagree but I think the cutest thing I've made are earring holders from open frames and scraps of lace.


What is your favorite food? I love food, which is why I have a situation right now. :) I go through favorite food phases, Mexican, Mediterranean, Sushi, etc... I think right now my favorite is thin crust margarita pizza... tomatoes, fresh basil, and fresh mozzarella. Or maybe that's just what I'm craving right now?

What is your favorite song at the moment? Poker Face by Lady GaGa. I’m so refined.

Hobby you would love to learn. I know you want to learn to sew. Is there anything else? Yes, I would like to grow a vegetable and herb garden, maybe someday when I’m home more often.

How old are you? 34

Do you ever come to Oklahoma? Can we go to dinner if you do? We have an employee in OK so I don’t get to work in OK often. I have been a few times and YES, I would love to have dinner. If you’re ever in San Antonio, let me know. I’d love to meet you and I’ll bring cupcakes.

What is your favorite beauty product? Lancôme mascara! I have blonde eyelashes and I swear by Lancôme mascara. At my first job right out of college, I had a lovely salary in the low 20’s. I’m not joking. It was hard but I made it work. I lived on the outskirts of town, I didn’t have cable, eating out was a treat, and my grandmaw bought my 12 packs of diet coke. However, I always made room in my budget for Lancôme mascara.

Petunia:

What are your favorite skincare products? I was diagnosed with a form of eczema called Seborrheic Dermatitis (SD) on my face about 6 years ago. I use skin care products from my dermatologist to prevent SD and keep it under control when I’m in a break out. I have several cleansers that are prescription, which is really nice because insurance covers most of the cost. I like M.D. Forte products. They’re sold in the doctor’s office and unfortunately, insurance doesn’t help. I do get to pick my eye make-up remover. I like Lancôme’s eye make-up remover but it’s a little expensive. I tried Sonia Kushuk’s eye make-up remover from Target for about $10 and it’s my new favorite.

What are your favorite shampoo and conditioner? I’m not loyal to one shampoo or conditioner. I really like the Bed Head products. My favorite shampoo and conditioner is the Dumb Blonde and Moisture Maniac . A couple of years ago I bought a Chi flat iron. I love the way it makes my hair look and feel but it has damaged my hair. My hair stylist (he’s in San Antonio, so excited) recommended Kenra conditioner. He sells it to me at cost which is great. If I’m out of Kenra or Bed Head isn’t on sale, I just pick up whatever is on sale at Target.

Are you excited about moving to San Antonio? Yes, but I’ve had a few moments.

Are you packed? Since I’m traveling every week, packing is a challenge. I’ve made a schedule and every weekend I pack a room. I’ve packed the dining room, kitchen, living room, and butler’s pantry. I still have to pack my bedroom, the bathroom, and the office/closet. Not fun.

What is the first thing you’ll do as a resident of San Antone (besides unpack)? I’ll probably call a few of the girls I know and try to meet up for happy hour.

What is your favorite Bible verse? It’s hard to pick just one. Here’s a few of my favorites...

What is your most favorite (fiction) book of all times? The Nanny Diaries. The book was great the movie was terrible.

Woman Interrupted:

What business are you in? I’m a regional trainer for K*dak, which can mean something different everyday of the week. I was hired to train retail staff how to use photo equipment and selling techniques. However, the job has changed over the years. I still do a lot of training but I also install, program, and network computers and kiosks. There are only 50 regional trainers in the company so we travel quite a bit.

How did you get into it? I wish I had a good story but I don’t, I knew someone. A friend from college introduced me to her sister-in-law who worked for K*dak. Her sister-in-law helped me get an interview. I went through 4 interviews, I think they were scared to hire me b/c I was young. I’ll never forget the night before the “you’re hired or we went with somebody else” call. I was so nervous and I couldn’t sleep. I think I prayed all night.

Astros Game

Saturday afternoon my friend, Maria, invited me a work event she was hosting at Minute Maid Park. Maria took one of her largest customers to an Astros game. Prior to the game, we had field passes and got to watch the Astros warm up. We also met a few players and they signed baseballs for us.

Y’all, I’m such a waste of a ticket to this kind of event. I really don’t know much about sports or any of the players but it was fun.

Funny story, my sister travels for work as much as I do. Jenn was on a flight and she was upgraded to first class. There was a man sitting next to her. They said, “Hello” and she worked on her computer the entire flight. When the plane landed Jenn was rushing to baggage claim and a passenger ran up to her and said, “Excuse me ma’am. Do you know who was sitting next to you on the airplane?” Jenn said, “No.” He said, “It was Jeff Bagwell.” Jenn said, “Who’s that?” The passenger said, “A former and famous Houston Astro.” Jenn said, “Oh” and continued to baggage claim. Ha Ha! I probably wouldn’t know who Jeff Bagwell is either but I’ve lived in Houston for 12 years and I’ve heard his name on the news.

This is Lance Berkman. Supposedly, he's good and famous. He signed a baseball for me. I'm thinking about selling it on eBay and buying a new dress. What else am I going to do with it?

Maria's son and his friend. The friend told Maria it was the best day of his life. So cute.



Our game tickets were in a suite. There was tons of food, beer, and wine. This morning my church dress was a little tight. Ooops!

The table center pieces were Astros cans filled with peanuts and cracker jacks. Nice touch.

View of downtown... the prettiest downtown sky line I've ever seen. One of my favorite parts of an Astros game is the singing. Of course, we sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." We also sing, "Deep in the Heart of Texas." So fun!

Ask Me Anything

Well almost anything. :) I did this last fall (I think) and thought I'd try it again. Danielle just had an ask me anything and reminded me of how fun it can be. Plus, I have a long flight next week and I have major A.D.D. on airplanes. So, is there is anything you want to know about me...

Girl's Night

I’ve spent the last 3 weeks working in the Dallas area. In the evenings, I’ve had the chance to spend time with friends and my brother. Wednesday night Tiffany and I took our little friend, Natalie, out for a Girl’s Night. Natalie is the daughter of our college friends, Erick and Leslie. She was the flower girl in Tiffany’s wedding last year. Natalie is so girly and just too much fun.

We started the evening by hitting a few shops. We had a nice dinner and got to catch up. Natalie told us all about school, dancing, and horseback riding. After dinner we took Natalie to Sonic for the free root beer float night. It was great fun!

Today I broke-up with my ObGyn...

...I love him. Have you noticed every girl thinks their ObGyn is the best?

My first ObGyn in Houston was an older man, Dr. T. Dr. T delivered one of my friends and she is 2 years older than me! I LOVED him. One day I called to make an appointment and they told me he was booked but I could see his partner who had the same bed side manner. I didn’t ask any questions and booked the appointment with the partner.

As I was uncomfortably sitting in the paper gown, the partner entered the room. He looked younger than me; I was horrified! Young Doctor ended up being a GREAT ObGyn. Once I was home, I Googled Young Doctor and he was only 5 years older than me. Dr. T ended up retiring, so Young Doctor became my new ObGyn.

So, why did I break-up with Young Doctor today? At the end of June, I’m moving to San Antonio (SA).

I decided to move in mid-April. It hasn’t been an easy decision. My sister and brother-in-law are moving to Omaha, NE for a year. My brother-in-law is finishing his residency in NE (he can do Botox). Easter weekend they asked me if I would be interested in renting their townhouse for a year for a great price. My immediate answer was, “NO.” After more thought and lots of prayer, I decided to give SA a year. My family lives in SA and I have friends and connections in SA.

I’m a BIG city girl. The bigger the city, the more exciting. I have always been open to re-locating. However, I was thinking NYC, Chicago, London, or Beijing. ;) The good news is San Antonio isn’t the smallest city in the US. It’s the 7th largest city in the U.S. and one of the top 10 Christmas cities in the U.S. Danielle that little Christmas fact was for you. Work has been wonderful and supportive. They’re completely okay with me moving and if I decide I don’t like SA, they’re okay with me making another move.

I’m officially leaving my city on June 27th. After a year, I’ll have to make another decision... stay in SA, move back to Houston, or move somewhere exotic. :) I’m excited to see what God has planned for me.
