Have You Heard?

I have this t-shirt.

Beverly Hills 90210 is coming back to television. It’s all-time favorite TV show (please don’t judge me). The cast of 90210 played characters my age. They even graduated from high school the same year I did, 1993. When I was in high school my family attended church on Wednesday nights, which was the night 90210 came on. I used to tell my parents that I had too much homework or I felt sick so I could stay home and watch my show. My parents were not stupid; they definitely knew what I was up to. Sometimes they let me get away with it. I didn’t feel too bad about it. Our youth minister was doing a series on the Book of Nahum. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the Book of Nahum, but if you want teenagers to pay attention and learn something on a Wednesday night, you’ve got to pick a better series! I don’t think the new Beverly Hills 90210 will be as good as the original but I am still looking forward to it.

I’m heading to Milwaukee, WI this weekend for a wedding. My co-worker, Tom, is getting married and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve never been to the state of WI, which is strange. For my job, I travel all over the United States but not WI. Once, I ask Tom if WI was even a state. I really did forget; he didn’t think it was very funny!

My New Look

As you can see, I just got a blog makeover from the famous and talented Danielle. To say that I absolutely love it would be an understatement. I purchased the kit and I knew Danielle would do a fabulous job, she always does. However, this blog design blew me away. I LOVE it. Thank you, Danielle.

If you have ever considered ordering a blog makeover, check out Blogs by Danielle. She is so much fun to work with and you won’t be disappointed. Danielle is running a special on blog makeovers through July 4th.

Top Three Things I Love About Blogs by Danielle

1. Danielle never uses the same design kit more than 2 times. She feels everyone deserves to have their own unique design.

2. Danielle donates a part of her earnings to charities, including one of our favorites Half the Sky.

3. Danielle can save your original design and create a holiday design or any other special occasion design. When you are ready to return to your original design, she can replace it. It’s a great way to change your blog look without purchasing a new design each time. Check out her site for details, prices, and specials.

Word Collage

I found this cool site from another blogger. It's SO fun! The site takes words off your blog and creates a collage. I kinda love it that Anthropologie is #1.

A Surprise

Tonight when I arrived home from a very short business trip, I had a package at my door. I was SO excited. The package was from New Day Foster Home in China. I've mentioned my friends, Carrie and Jacob , in a past post. This is the Foster Home they are serving at. The staff at New Day is so sweet. They designed these beautiful and classy note cards as an appreciation to their donors. The note card has a Chinese Knot in the upper left corner. “The Chinese Knot is made by hand from a single piece of string; the Chinese Knot is an age-old symbol of the interconnectedness that binds us all together.” I absolutely love the note cards and the meaning behind them!

The letter from New Day said, “We believe that our children are not the victims of chance and circumstance, but that their lives have great significance and purpose, and together we have the honor and pleasure of being a part of their lives for a short time while they wait for their forever families.”

A Relaxing Day

Saturday Amy and I had a relaxing day of grooming and shopping. I have many days where I NEED to be groomed... manicure, pedicure, eyebrow wax, haircut, new make-up, you name it. Well, Saturday was one of those days. I needed a manicure so bad. My cuticles were dry and flakey. So, for our June Girl's Night we had manis and pedis and then shopped at the Galleria. We stopped by my favorite candy store in the world, Dylan's Candy Bar. I used all my self-control and just looked at all the delicious candy and didn't buy anything. Yay... Me!

Inspiration Book

My mom has done it again! She created an Inspiration Book for my sister and me. I LOVE it. An Inspiration Book is where you keep magazine pictures, photos, quotes…anything that inspires you. I’ve always had a similar book but it wasn’t pretty. I started my first Inspiration Book in college. The majority of my book is filled with decorating ideas. I live in an old building, built in the 1930’s. It has tons of charm and I really like it. The landlord let me paint, which always adds character and warmth. However, I don’t own my place and I’m looking forward to the day I decorate my own house.

Inside of the Book and it has Pockets!

The fabric on the Inspiration Book is from Amy Butler. I love her fabrics. Amy Butler also has a line of scrapbook items at Michael’s. I’ve made banners and greeting cards with her paper. On her website, Amy has fabric and paper project ideas. I made these paper flowers with the help of her website.

Other fabric designers that I really like include, Tina Givens and Anna Maria Horner. My mom and I are hoping to attend the Houston Quilt Show this October. I’m keeping my finger crossed that I get to meet one of my three favorite fabric designers.

In 2006, my mom made this photo album cover for my China pictures and documents. She purchased the design on the internet and uploaded it to her sewing machine. Next we picked colors for the design and ta da! There's so much detail in this album, I love it. Thanks, Mom!

Happy Father's Day

My dad has taught me so many things. My sister and I are strong and independent because of him. My dad has the highest standard of ethics and morals of anyone I know. He is disciplined and determined. He taught me how to manage my money when I was very young. I remember as a child getting an allowance of $10 a month. My dad taught me that you should always save 10% and give 10% to the church. I’m sure you’ve already done the math in your head and you’re right… that left me with $8 a month. Ouch… I did learn a valuable lesson that I carry with me today. Thanks Dad and Happy Father’s Day!

My High School Graduation~I did get more than $10

P.S. Rudy Giuliani was on my flight from Newark to Houston.

Little Girl Party

My friend Amy has started a fun tradition, a "Little Girl Party." Amy invites the neighbor's girls, her niece, and me. I'm included to kick up the girly factor. :) I'm sure the girl’s parents enjoy a night out without the kids. Last year we made cupcakes and decorated them. It was lots of fun and I learned that even though little girls are adorable, they can be really messy. I don't do well with messes. Guess, I'm going to have problems when I have kids. :)

This year we dressed up and had a photo shoot. I LOVE photo shoots. (M.C.~if you're reading this remember our photo shoot in London?) We made cotton candy, which was a bust. Don't buy the little cotton candy machines from Bed Bath and Beyond or Wal-mart. You spend a long time spinning a paper cone in the machine, only to get about 4 bites of cotton candy. It reminded me of the Snoopy Snow Cone Machine from my childhood. I was so excited to get a snow cone and I ended up with about 4 bites. Boo! The girls watched a movie, while Amy and I made them sugar cookies. After all the fun, we read bedtime stories and they attempted to fall asleep.

I love Snow Cones

Heat Wave

I'm working in New Jersey this week. I really should post about all the uninteresting places I work. He He! To be honest, I wasn't too excited when I found out I was working in NJ but then it occured to me that it might be cooler than Houston, which is very exciting! Oh no... New Jersey is experiencing a heat wave. I think it felt better in Houston. :o)

A Completed Project

In January I posted about a fabric shopping trip my mom and I took to Kerrville, TX. We picked up some great pieces and she has completed one of the dresses. Actually, she completed it a few weeks ago. I wore it to Tiffany's bridal luncheon and many other places, including the dentist. I just really love it. My mom spent a lot of time working on it. I thought the dress deserved its own post. :) Thank you so much, mom. You are so talented!

I also purchased some fabric for an apron. I'm ashamed to admit I have not started it yet. I started a white tiered skirt. It's almost finished. However, I don't like how it's coming along. It looks very bridal and that is definitely not what I had in mind. I really need to finish it; maybe it won't be as ugly as I think.

The picture of me in the dress was taken by my talented friend, Amy. She is an amazing photographer. She has turned the game room in her house into a photo studio complete with backdrops, lights, everything.... Last night Amy had a "Little Girl Party" at her house, more on that later. We took a break and she took these photos. There are many more, I just feel weird posting a bunch of pictures of just me. Thanks Amy for the fun photo shoot.

The Lining~even though nobody can see it, I know it's there and love it.
My mom threaded the chocolate brown ribbon through the lace.
She is very detailed.

My mom didn't make the shoes but she would probably try if I ask her.

Round Two & Happy Birthday, Maria

Last night I saw Sex and the City for the second time. I liked it even better than the first time. Yesterday was Maria's birthday. It was the perfect celebration for her. We had sushi and headed to the movie. Maria has been such a great friend over the years. We both worked for Kodak and became close friends. I really treasure her friendship. Maria is like a big sister to me.

Saw It, Loved It, Seeing It Again Tomorrow

Last Saturday night I saw the Sex and the City movie. Lindsay, Jana, Stephanie, and I dressed up for the movie. I was a little embarrassed being SO dressed up for a movie. Actually, I wasn't embarrassed... I love dressing up. I do wear dress and heels to baseball games. Afterwards, we had a great Italian dinner at a cute, cozy restaurant. We discussed the movie throughout the entire dinner. I won't say anything about the movie for those who have not seen it yet. It's really great. I'm seeing it again tomorrow night. :)

Stephanie and Lindsay

The Group~ I'm not loving this pic. My dress is a little too big and puffy.

I can't say that my friends and I are similar to the characters in SATC. We are all very conservative and clean cut. I guess we all identify the most with Charlotte. I really LOVE Charlotte because she has a daughter from China, she's sweet, and dresses cute. :) Although, at times I have flet like Carrie and Miranda (minus the whole sleeping around thing~DON'T do that).

You Have To Watch This...

Tiffany just sent us the link to the picture slideshow from her photographer. Oh My Lanta.... It's so great! My favorite pictures are on the golf course without shoes. I also love the black and white picture of the bridesmaids standing around Tiffany and praying for her and the new chapter in her life. That photo was taken right before she walked down the aisle. I get the chills thinking about it.

http://www.alexhamphotography.com/TiffanyAndBrandonWeddingshow/

Yes, my BFF had a monogrammed aisle runner. The same monogram was on the programs and the party favors. So classy. Love it!
