Latest Project

I'm back to blogging this week. Wow~ I've been busy and I'm staying busy but that's good. :) I had friends in town from Wisconsin over the weekend. We had a great time; I'll post photos later.

Painting furniture has been latest home project. Oh My Lanta... it's so hard! I re-painted a dresser, 2 nightstands, and a mirror. Also, I changed the hardware. I'm planning on sanding the edges of the furniture to create a shabby chic appearance. Currently, the furniture has a slight shabby appearance but I think it could use a more shabby feel.

Is it pine? My mom would DIE!!! She would have paid a pretty penny for those.

Very cute! I wouldn't worry about making it look shabbier b/c everyday wear and tear will happen quickly and it will be more authentic.

I think I might be in love with that dresser! And I'm awfully impressed with how much better the nightstand looks after being painted.

Very Shabby Chic! Love it!!! You did a fabulous job. I decided to repaint our mahogany sleigh bed a few months ago and forgot to tell hubby (wink). He came home early and when he opened the garage door found half the bed dripping in white paint. I could hear him scream, MONKEY!!! (That's his nickname for me). I knew I was in BIG trouble. But it turned out alright, he finished painting the bed for me, hee, hee...I told him, You did a good job. It looks great! But he didn't smile.

LOVE IT!! My daughter has a similar pine bedroom set that consists of a very sturdy and HUGE queen canopy bed, nitestand and large armoire... I've considered painting it for a long time, but now that I see the results of yours, I just may brave out and paint it. My inlaws would fall over, and they don't understand painting over perfectly good solid wood... but it's just a little too rustic for my taste!! :) Looks great...you should post some painting steps/tips!!

Blessings and Hugs,
~Tanya

Wow, that looks so great! I've been wanting to do something with our ancient, hand-me-down bedroom set for a while, but don't know how to start. Any tips?

Those look amazing! LOVE the hardware. Great job, Jill!

You should post some tips/tricks on your painting process! I'm definitely one of those people that gets overwhelmed by how to take on these types of projects...Do I sand by hand or with a sander? How rough should my sand paper be? Do I paint with a roller or a brush?! Looks like you've figured it out, though!

It looks fantastic! You did a wonderful job. It doesn't even look like the same furniture. I really like the new hardware you added too.
